Late Again! - Holly Swirl and some wax

Well once again I am late to the party!  I was so excited too!

I had decided to enter the "Holly Swirl" technique challenge that Amy Warden from Great Cake's Soapwork is featuring.  I missed the last one, "Mantra Swirl", so I was pretty excited to take part this time around.

Now I had my soap all ready to go but unfortunately I missed the cut off time to  upload my link.  I have been so busy running around.  My son just recently started Kindergarten and he has been having a hard time adjusting.  It has been some challenging three weeks, working with teachers, counselors and directors.  Pushing for them to finally offer him the help he needs.  So I have been pretty busy, pushing, emailing and making some noise!  I am happy to report that starting next week he will be transferred to a more structure class and he will be getting additional help in his class as well.  =)

By the time I sat down to check email I noticed that I missed the deadline to upload my link.  I was sad.  But I knew there were some pretty important things that were taking care of - so that made me happy again.

In the meantime I do want to share with you my attempt at the "Holly Swirl".

This time my soap behaved really well and my fragrance did not accelerate.  I was able to do some nice fluid swirls =)

I also discovered a new fragrance from Natures Garden : Ice Shine
The vendor has the following description on their site and it is really yummy!!!
A vibrant fragrance with juicy melon and sweet raspberries pooled with a bountiful bouquet of muguet, peonies and magnolias softened with white musk.

I added some poppy seeds to the top and used Activated Charcoal for the black and Electric Bubble Gum from Bramble Berry for the pink.  I love the colors!  I am pretty happy with my soap.

I have also been playing around with wax as well.  I have caught an additional addiction and I am loving my new wax hobby!  Here are a couple of pics from some of the latest one's I have done.

This one is Pumpkin Apple and it is really yummy!!! It has me thinking of the change of seasons when the days are shorter and you come home to your cozy place, hot cocoa and rich pumpkin bread.  It has a nice touch of spice.  (I did get a little carried away with the caramel wax topping!)

Next one up is Cotton Candy Brittle!  This one makes me think of Summer Fairs and Carnivals.  Not too sweet but certainly yummy!

Last but not least we have Mango Papaya Cupcakes!  This one pulls me back to the present and reminds me that we still have a couple of more days of summer and I should enjoy them!

ps: I am loving my little cupcake molds!

If you want to see some beautiful wax melts check out Holly's Blog from Missouri River Soap.  Her melts are beautiful and she is kind enough to show a recent video on her Channel on You Tube.

Thanks for checking out my blog!!!
HAPPY SOAPING!!!
Roxana!

  2. Aww, poor kid! Hopefully this new class will do him a world of good Roxana.

I really love how you made the tops different from your swirls, so creative. The colours are so great and really make quite the statement.

We have the annual summer fair going on right now, and your wax melts reminds me of that; lots of yummy goodness but they won't last long. :)

    1. Thank you Gloria! Making the wax melts are so much fun! my only problem with the brittle was that I did not split the wax in the same amount. The top ended up having more wax than the bottom layer! oops!

    1. Hi Maja! Wax melts are the rage around here. You melt them on wax warmers and they filled your room with the wonderful fragrance. Some people are starting to prefer them instead of candles since you avoid having an open flame, especially if you have little ones. They are so fun to make =)

  9. Oh my gosh! Your soap looks about as perfect as can be and the wax melts are too cute! I fell ya 100% when it comes to the busy days that throw off the soap rhythm - if only we didn't need to sleep right? THEN everything would get done on schedule :P Congrats again on a beautiful Holly Swirl there!

  11. Wow, what a gorgeous soap, Roxana! Your Holly Swirl turned out great. I love the pink and black together. BB's neon colorants are lots of fun! That sounds like a lovely FO, too - it's good to know that you didn't have any trouble with acceleration with the floral notes. And your waxes are so cute! I've been experimenting with candles myself. I hope that your son gets settled in at school soon, and that he enjoys his new class.

  12. Oh what a shame you missed the deadline - this is sooooo gorgeous - just stunning!!

I do so understand your lack of time though - it's difficult to prioritise soaping sometimes. I too have a little one starting pre-school next month and I'm already anxious ;D I hope your son is feeling more settled by now.
