Lilac...getting better

For me soaping is a challenge, a craft, a stress reliever and an addiction.  I tend to go back to fragrances and soaps that did not turn out well for me.  As I feel more comfortable with my soaping I try to recreate a soap and hopefully overcome the past challenges.

Lilac is a favorite fragrance of mine.  I love the flower, I even have it planted in my backyard and  every Spring I look forward to when it gives out all these beautiful fragrant flowers.  Because of my fascination with this flower I have tried a couple of batches of Lilac soap.  My first were really bad.  So bad that they never made it to the blog :(.  Then I had a couple of weird looking ones and some that turned out not what I was envisioning.

The last batch that I made was this post:

Lilac and the missing 2 pound mold

In the end, while I had a nice bar of soap, I was itching to give it another try.

This time I decided to soap at much cooler temperatures and tried to work fast in the event that I had trouble with my fragrance.  The results were really nice.  I am certainly much happier with the design this time around.

What do you think?  Much improvement for sure! :)

Thanks for checking out my blog!

HAPPY SOAPING!

  1. The lilac soap is lovely, Roxana! I'm always a little apprehensive around floral FOs. Looks like you've got this lilac FO under control. Good on you for returning to difficult recipes and FOs to work through the challenges. If I have a soap disaster, I tend to say, "Well, I'll never try that again!" :D

  2. You are right! You got perfect swirls. How did you make them?
I also like to try and try again until I get it right.

    1. I used the drop method and then grabbed a thin knitting needle and swirled :)

    1. Thank you Laura. I bought the mold on eBay and at first I was not sure I like it, but it's growing on me :)

  4. I agree, this is so beautiful Roxana. I love lilacs as well, they are in my yard, the first signs of spring. You've done a lovely job with the colouring too.
