Apricot Freesia

I recently have started to try some natural colored soap.  I fell in love with the look of my chamomile soap.

I have some clays on hand and just recently received a free sample of nettle leaf powder from Soap Making Resource :).  I love freebies!

I wasn't sure if I should use a fragrance or just leave it as is.  In the end the fragrance called out to me and I decided to use Bramble Berry's Apricot Freesia.  This was one of the first fragrances that I tried when I started to do Melt and Pour soap.  I loved it then and I still love it now.  It's not too strong and it's a nice light scent...too bad that I did not have enough on hand for my batch.  So I sort of short handed my soap a bit and did not fragrance it as much.  Oops.

For colors I used Bramble Berry's rose clay, kaolin clay, and like I mentioned above; nettle leaf powder from Soap Making Resource.

Here is my final product:

I really liked the green that the nettle leaf powder gave out.  A nice soft green :).  I did end up using a little more rose clay than I was going for, but I'm still OK with the final results.

I am in the middle of trying to finish the Peacock Swirl Challenge.  So far I've had two failed attempts and I am going to give it a go one more time :)

I have also been thinking of doing a short soap survey.  I have been playing with my soap recipe and I am undecided which one I like the best.  I have been toying with the idea of offering up a couple of bars of soap to some of my soap blog friends to give me some feedback.  Stay tuned if you are interested :)

Thanks for checking out my blog!
Happy Soaping!!!

  1. Oh pick me, pick me! I mean, ahem, I would love to test your soap for you :D

I really like this bar Roxana, I love the speckled look that you get from the nettle and the color is a perfect compliment to the pink. I really love your swirls too, mine never turn out that nice :( Any swirling tips you could offer? (Or maybe a swirling video..hint hint?) ;)

Good luck with your peacock swirl! I was too chicken to attempt this one, I hope to join in on the next challenge.

  2. I second the testing notion! Count me in! I am a big fan of BB's Apricot Freesia foe too! It was also one of the first I ever used, but I have only used it in mp because I read that it doesn't work well with gelling CP. It's my bestie Mindy's favorite scent of anything I've made her, according to her.

I was too afraid to try the peacock swirl. I don't really have the extra oils to cover any messed up batches, or the extra cash for supplies and the signup. I was bummed not to participate in the new version of challenges, but hopefully next time!

  5. Oh sure, Cee says exactly what I wanted to say about wanting to get picked, but she's more subtle than I would've been. ;)

I didn't realize natural clay could produce such beautiful colours, that is so pretty! Apricot freesia sounds like the perfect scent for this soap too.

I hope you don't give up on the peacock swirl, I think you'll come up with something fantastic as always.

  7. I would also love to be a soapy tester! I'm completely in love with all the goodies I got in the soap swap -- I'd even send you a few of my bars in return if you'd like to try them and let me know your feelings as well. :D And apricot freesia -- mmmm. I got that one in the swap too, and it's now on my wishlist!
