Great Cake Soapworks, Soap Challenge 2013 – Mica Swirled Tops

Here I am in week 3 of the Great Cake Soapworks, Soap Challenge 2013, Mica Swirled Tops! (Check out the Amy's blog at Great Cake's Soapworks for this current challenge and the previous two)

I have to admit...I did not do very well with this challenge.  Not only did I decide to go a little over the top (3 colors), the color scheme that I was envisioning for this soap did not come out like I wanted it.  My problem is that I used to much TD and ended up making pastel colors as oppose to the nice darker colors I was looking for.  Oh well...goes to show, I still have more practice to gain in the coloring field.

Like I said before, I got a little too ambitious and decided to use 3 Mica Colors.  Not a good idea.  It got a little too busy and also struggled with the thickness of the Mica and Oil.  It ended up being a little too runny.

Here are the results:

Yes, I do need a LOT more practice with this technique.  The fragrance that I also used ended up fading on me..."Strawberry Jam" :(
Very Sad.

I do like my swirls in the soap :)
(ignore the bubbles!!!)

One more challenge to go, "Leopard Spots!"...
I predict this may be the one that absolutely gets me crying :(

Thanks for checking out my blog!
HAPPY SOAPING
Roxana!!!

BB has one of the best, and it fades right away too.

  2. Your soap is so pretty! I like the mica swirls and the pastel colors. What kind of problems did you have with the mica oil? Too thin or thick?
I´m also a little bit nervous about making leopard spot soap. But I know one thing I might try if it works. But I still hate piping soap. I´m so messy :)

  6. Well, I think the soap is gorgeous! I love the tricolor mica swirls on top as well as the swirls inside the soap. None of my batches that didn't go according to plan ever looked that fabulous! I'm sorry to hear that the FO faded - that's no fun.

  8. Seriously beautiful soap, Roxana!! Even if the colors aren't as dark as you envisioned, the design work is fantastic! The mica swirl is fabulous too! I definitely see 3 distinct colors. By the way, THERE IS NO CRYING IN SOAPMAKING!! You will do the leopard spot soap, and you will do it WELL.
