Simple...just Facial Soap

I have been having the hardest time lately with my soaps.  Problems with ricing, soft soap and even some zap.  Not wanting to risk another disappointing batch I decided to try my hand at some facial soap.  Nothing fancy...no colors or fragrances.

Gathering my ingredients and singing a happy tune I started to set up.  I decided to use the following ingredients:
Goats Milk, Olive Oil, Avocado Oil, Coconut Oil, Mango Butter, Palm Oil, Palm Kernel, Rice Bran Oil, Castor Oil, Tussah Silk and Rhassoul Clay.  Rhassoul Clay...sounds very fancy :)

I googled it and here is what Wikipedia has posted:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhassoul

The rhassoul or ghassoul is a natural mineral clay mined in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco since the eighth century. It is combined with water to clean the body and has been used by Moroccan women for centuries to care for their skin and hair. Rhassoul contains silicon, iron, magnesium, potassium, sodium, lithium, and trace elements.[1]
Today, rhassoul is used in Turkish baths. Along with a glove, or "kessa", Rhassoul is used as a facial mask and poultice to the body. It is similar to a western style mud wrap. It is intended to soften the skin, reduce sebum secretion, regenerate the skin by removing dead cells, and rebalance the skin by tightening the pores.[2]

I have pretty oily skin and for some time have wanted to make a facial soap to use.  I thought this may be the time to try since I had most of the ingredients that I wanted to use.

Now to avoid it being to harsh and over drying I super fatted this batch to 10% and I cut down on the Coconut Oil and added the Palm Kernel flakes.  I could have also used Babassu Oil instead of Coconut Oil but I did not have any on hand.

Here are the results:

I am always surprised at times at how a plain bar of soaps with special goodies looks just as wonderful as those beautiful, colorful soaps.

I admire it and admire it...and just like a proud mama I think it's the most beautiful bar out there.
He he he...

I am itching to try it out and can't wait till the curing time is done so that I can finally give it a try.

Thanks for checking out my blog!  Happy Soaping!

  1. It sure looks beautiful and comforting. The more soap I make, the more I like the soaps that contain only the ingredients that the soap needs to bee moisturizing and creamy.
