Last Days of Summer

Everyone is busy starting their "Fall and Winter" collections, and here I am refusing to leave summer behind =)

Soapers are always a season ahead.  It takes about 6 weeks or so, depending on your soapy recipe, for your soaps to be ready to use.  Being that the case, you will find most of us soaping with Christmas fragrances, when it's not even close to Halloween! LOL.

But I have been procrastinating and enjoying my summer fragrances.  But alas... here are my last two "summer soaps"!

I give you Rainbow Sherbet:

This is a super yummy fragrance from Nature's Garden.  Here is the description:
fresh lime, pineapple, orange, and raspberry, with creamy base notes of vanilla

It performed really well for me.  I did end up stick blending my mixture a little bit pass light trace and when I went to add my colors it had started to thicken-up some.  I also added some powder goats milk ... because I am crazy about Goats Milk and have been on a mission to figure out how to incorporate it in my soaps without having to freeze the milk ahead of time.

I did store it in the fridge but as you can see the titanium dioxide did not like the heat and I started some crackling due to some overheating.

Number two is my favorite to date...I LOVE this fragrance.  Not because it smells divine, but because of the memories it brings.

This is Puakenikeni Hawaiian Flower, also a fragrance from Nature's Garden.  I just close my eyes and think about the Hawaiian family trips I have been lucky to experience...and with much luck, maybe again in the near future.

I wanted to capture the light colors of the lei flowers.  I must say that I am pretty happy with the results.  This one I made extra special with heavy cream, silk and a touch of colloidal oatmeal.

Yes, I know...colloidal oatmeal does not go with Hawaii...but I like colloidal oatmeal =)

I hope you are enjoying our last days of summer.  I am sad to see it go but do enjoy the crispier, cooler days of fall.

Thanks for checking out my blog!

Happy Soaping!!!
Roxana

  6. Both soaps are gorgeous, Roxana! I made my first autumn/holiday soap just the other day. Summer scents are fun, but I'm glad that autumn is on the way - summer is too darn hot!

  7. I'm glad to see you hanging onto summer Roxana. Winter months always seems to be so much longer than summer days so it's great to enjoy the summer while it's still here.

I love both your soaps, but the rainbow sherbet really put a smile on my face. The colours are so bright and bold.

  14. Those came out so pretty! I agree, it's hard to let summer go when it smells so good and has so many bright colors. But I am looking forward to see what you come up with this fall - I bet it's just as pretty and smells just as nice as summer does :)
