Raspberry Cake

I love sweets...I love them a little bit too much that I really need to have them in moderation.  During my weekly "soap admiring" web surfing I happen to come across some beautiful soap cakes.  I thought to myself...

"why not?  I have tried cupcakes, let's see if I can pull off a soap cake"

Now, I could not figure out which fragrance to use.  Most of the fragrances that I have on hand are mostly floral.  But I was able to dig in the back of my soaping closet and found one of my raspberry fragrance from Natures Garden.  It's actually called "Lick Me All Over"...hmmm, the names they come up with at times :).
It's actually a dupe of the Sun-warmed Raspberry fragrance type.  I really like it and since it's raspberry I figured I should choose some pink/pastel colors.

I did have a little bit of a challenge with the frosting.  I stored the soap batter in the refrigerator for the soap to set a little more so that the piping would come out much thicker.  I do feel that I need a little more practice trying to figure out when it's ready to pipe, but I must say that I did not do so bad  :)

I had a couple of friends and family that were pretty stunned by my final results.  I would call that a success.

I am so happy with my cake that I am already thinking of future ones to make.  Unfortunately it may not be for some time.  I have signed up for Amy Warden's Peacock Swirl Challenge.  This will be my first time trying out this technique and I can't wait to get it started.

Thanks for checking out my blog!
HAPPY SOAPING!!!

  1. So gorgeous soap,Roxana! You did piping so well and I like raspberry detail on each slice! And,of course, great swirl inside! I made a cake last summer and to be honest, I'm not sure how they are to be handled under the shower!? Maybe to cut into two, I don't know! Let me know what way you (will) use it!

    1. Thanks Maja! I was actually just thinking about that as I was cutting it...how to use in the shower? LOL. Most will be given out as gifts so I will be sure to ask how they end up using :)

  4. Gorgeous, Roxana! It looks totally edible. It makes me think of a marbled cheesecake. You did a great job with the piping, and the berry on top is a cute touch!
