Impulse Shopping...

I'm an impulse buyer...so my husband tells me all the time; well maybe he is right :)

I see something and "Pow!" "well that will look really nice at home" and off to the register I go...

Now my impulse buying has migrated over to fragrances.  I browse the online stores and I am amazed at all the possibilities.  Just like when you walk into a restaurant and you look at the extensive menu and you just can't decide.  Except that I decide, and sometimes failing todouble check on the "ingredients".

Just recently I started my spring shopping...I purchased some florals, some fruity and a couple of clean scents.  One of the scents I picked up is called "Hidden Fantasy"

this is the vendor's description:
Fresh citrus and hints of wild cherry intertwine with fresh ozone notes to accent the floral heart of this fragrance. Tropical ylang ylang balance with sensual jasmine and hints of rose to form a rich floral accord which is surrounded with green leafy accents. Cashmere musk undertones are sweetened with vanilla amber to create a dramatic finish for this fragrance.

Well that sounded pretty good to me.  I have also been admiring all these delicate color schemes.  Simple white and off whites with a dash of color.  Well I was envisioning white and pink....creamy white and delicate pink...and this was how to top turned out :

Well I was so excited.  Just what I was looking for.  I could not wait till it was ready to unmold and cut....

Well a few days later as they were sitting on the cutting rack I noticed a very alarming transformation.  My delicate soap was starting to change!!!  Gone was the delicate cream and pretty pink.  I was now starting to see this:

What I neglected to plan on was the vanilla content of this fragrance.  I also did not check on the vendors website to confirm any color change.  I went back to the vendors page and there it was:

Soap (Cold Process Results)Slight acceleration. Discolors to a tan. Scent strength is good. Soaps beautifully!

Cashmere musk undertones are sweetened with vanilla amber to create a dramatic finish for this fragrance.

Well, here I sit with my dirty looking soap, learning a new lesson.  Do you fragrance research! :(

Thanks for checking out my blog!

HAPPY SOAPING!

  1. As long as it maintain the contrast between your colours,it will look beautifully. It's other thing if it's turned out differently than envisioned!

  3. I think it looks great Roxana, I love the drop swirl and your textured top! I've had that 'uh-oh' moment too after soaping a fragrance and then going back to the website to read that it has vanilla in it! I'm sure I'll do it again too...ha ha!

It's still turning darker...it's looking pretty dirty right about now. Lesson learned!

  5. I like how it looks after cut - kind of rustic and more of a "natural" tone. Sometimes it's hard for me to look at a soap that didn't turn out as I had envisioned and still like it, but I think this one is lovely!

    1. you know, I did not think to look at it as rustic...I need to start looking at it with different eyes, and get over it not being the cream color I was going for
      Thank you Chrissy!

  6. I totally know what you mean about a soap discoloring when you didn't expect it to. But, I think your final soap turned out really well and has a super earthy feel to it. :)

  7. I know how frustrating it is when an FO unexpectedly discolors or does something weird. Your soap still looks beautiful, though, even with the discoloration. The scent sounds wonderful, too. Hopefully if it's supposed to discolor to tan, it won't darken anymore - it would be a shame to lose those pretty swirls!

  8. It may not be the brilliant colours you're looking for, but how it turned out seems much more cozy to me, and the colours to me are a great contrast to the scent. I like it.
